Course for Referees, Scorers and Line Judges in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 21, 2019 – The NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development Center in the Dominican Republic began its 2019 cycle of activities with a course for Referees, Scorers and Line Judges organized in collaboration with the National District Volleyball Association in Santo Domingo.

The participants with the highest notes will be included in the staff of officials corresponding to the Superior Volleyball Tournament of the Dominican capital, said Nelson Ramírez, director of the development center.

Ramírez said that the certification of these new certified officials will be part of the formation of the Collegiate Referees and Scorers of the National District.

Former referee Salvador Bautista president of the Refereeing Commission of the Dominican Volleyball Federation and member of the NORCECA Commission directed the part corresponding to Referees and Line Judges.

Bienvenido Mateo instructed the participants in the use of the electronic sheet and the rules for the substitution of players. Julio Martinez also participated as instructor.

The course included practical and theoretical sessions with team from the female program of the National Federation playing practice matches to help the training of the participants.

Angel Rivas, president of the National District Volleyball Association and vice president of the National Federation, presided over the closing ceremony attended by Tony Mesa, technical director of the Ministry of Sports of the Dominican Republic.
