Cuban Ailama Cese is the MVP U20 Cup
LIMA, Peru, May 18, 2019 - Cuban outside hitter Ailama Cese was
a key player in each of the victories in her country, and on
Saturday night she was recognized as the Most Valuable Player of
the V edition of the Pan American Cup U20 that was held in the
Peruvian capital.
Cese who was also awarded the Best Attacker and the Best Scorer
of the competition, ended the U20 Cup with an accumulated 88
points, of which 29 were in the victory over the Dominican
Republic which led them to obtain their first medal of gold in
the U20 Cup.
"Being the Most Valuable Player is a beautiful prize, I feel
very happy," said the 18-year-old Cuban attacker who thanked her
coach Tomás Fernández for being her teacher and trainer.
"This is the first time I get such an important award, I owe
everything to my teacher Tomás who has worked with me since I
was 12 years old, this award is dedicated to him," Cese said.
After winning their first championship title of the U20 Pan
American Cup, with four consecutive victories by 3-0 and one by
3-2, the Cuban team is ready for the U20 World Championship that
will take place for the second consecutive time in Mexico, from
July 12 to 21, 2019
"We will continue working hard to put the name of Cuba on high
as they had before as the 'Morenas del Caribe', we will fight to
take our country to the podium in the World Championship and all
the competitions that come," said Cese.
