Cuban Miguel Angel Lopez MVP in Colima Men’s Pan Am Cup
COLIMA, Mexico, June 21, 2019. - Cuban Miguel Angel Lopez was
named the Most Valuable Player of the fourteenth Men’s Pan
American Cup that finished on Friday at the Multifunctional
Auditorium of Colima, Mexico.
Miguel Angel Lopez contributed in his team’s five-set thriller
golden win to Argentina 3-2 (19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9).
With the triumph, Cuba wins their third Men’s Pan American
title, in 2014 defeating United States and in 2016 also in five
sets over Argentina. Cuba and Argentina are used to playing in
five sets; they also met in their first performance here with
Cuba also winning in five.
Lopez received the recognition the closing ceremony that awarded
Cuba, Argentina and Mexico as the top three finishers of the
event, as well as the following individual awards.
