Dominican Brenda Castillo takes home the MVP award
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, June 19, 2014 – Brenda Castillo, whose
sensational defensive skills proved to be crucial for the
Dominican Republic’s victory at the Women’s Volleyball Pan
American Cup, was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the
competition.
Castillo, who was applauded loudly y the fans when her name was
announced during the closing ceremony, also took home the awards
as best receiver, best digger and best libero.
Colombians Maria Alejandra Marín and Ivonne Montano were
selected as best setter and best server.
The All-Star team of the tournament was formed by Dominican
Republic’s Bethania De la Cruz and Colombia’s Margarita Martinez
as outside hitters and United States’ TeTori Dixon and Dominican
Candida Arias as middle blockers.
Mexico’s Andrea Rangel was the best opposite player and Castillo
the libero.
The closing ceremony was attended by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
President of NORCECA Confederation, Rafael Lloreda Currea,
President of the South American Confederation, and Jesus Perales,
President of the Mexican Volleyball Federation. |
