Dominican Republic Team already in Japan for the Olympics

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 12, 2021 – The team to represent the Dominican Republic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is already in Japan for a training base in the city of Okayama.

The squad of Brazilian coach Marcos Kwiek is led by the captain Prisilla Rivera who has been named as flag bearer of the country’s delegation during the opening ceremony parade.

The other members of the team are:

Bethania de la Cruz, Brayelin Martinez, Yonkaira Peña and Gaila Gonzalez as attackers, Niverka Marte and Camil Dominguez as setters, Annerys Vargas, Jineiry Martínez and Lisvel Eve as middle blockers and Brenda Castillo and Larysmer Martínez as liberos.

The Dominican Republic team just finished their participation in the FIVB Nations League with a 9-6 win-loss record good for a sixth position and the No. 6 place in the World Rankings.

This will be the third time for the Dominican Team at the Olympics. They finished in the fifth position in London 2012 and their best achievement in Athens 2004 was a five-set victory over United States.
