Dominican Republic edges Korea at home

BORYEONG, Korea, June 18, 2019 – The Dominican Republic claimed a thrilling victory 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 26-24 30-28) over host Korea to open the fifth and last phase of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL).

The victory increased the record of the Dominicans to 7-6 (18 points) with two matches lying ahead against Poland and Japan.

Bethania de la Cruz notched 17 points, including three aces, as the offensive leader of the winners. Gaila Gonzalez added 15, Lisvel Eve and Brayelin Martínez had 11 and 10, respectively, while Jineiry Martínez chipped in with 9 points.

Heejin Kim and Yeon Koung Kim each scored 21 points for Korea and Sohwi Kang had 11 por el for the defeated side.
