Dominican U20 Team doing well in Orlando

 

   

ORLANDO, Florida, June 19, 2015 – The U20 volleyball team representing the Dominican Republic at the ESPN Cup in Orlando, Florida, won its two matches on Thursday at the ESPN Wide World of Sports and Orange County Convention Center.

 

The event is organized by the U.S. Amateur Athletic Union and is being utilized by the Dominican side as preparation for the FIVB U20 Women’s World Championship to take place in Puerto Rico next September.

 

The Dominicans defeated Israel 2-0 (25-15, 25-5) and then won 2-0 (25-10, 25-15) against Germany. In their previous outings they won 2-0 (25-22, 25-10) over Brazil but lost to China 2-0 (25-20, 25-19).

 

In the second day of the competition, the Dominican team coached by Cristian Cruz assisted by Alexandre Ceccato and Agripina Martinez, obtained two victories by defeating Puerto Rico 2-0 (25-13, 25-14) and Slovenia 2-1 (23-25, 25-15, 15-10).

 

The Dominican Republic sits in second place, behind China, in the international division.
