Dominicans with new Mizuno attire for Nations League

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 23, 2018 – The new Mizuno uniforms to be used by the Dominican Team at the upcoming FIVB Women’s Nations League and the Pan American Cup were exhibited on Tuesday as part of a ceremony held at the Regional Development Center in Santo Domingo.

The ceremony was attended by the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Luis Mejía Oviedo, the minister of Sports and Recreation Danilo Díaz Vizcaíno and the president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation Ramón A. García.

Garcia pronounced the welcoming words to all the invitees, including a large group of members of the media, highlighting the importance of the celebration in Santo Domingo of the XVII Pan American Cup and the participation in the main women’s annual competition of FIVB.

The presentation of the uniforms and a complete report of the achievements by the Dominican female teams the past two years was made by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, director of the Female Program of the National Federation.

The members of the Dominican Team led by its captain Bethania de la Cruz and the technical staff attended the event as well as a group of sponsors that included Juan Lopez president of Lopez Radio and TV Stations Group and Luis Bodega vice president of Viva Communications, and major general Elvis Feliz Pérez, president of the organizing committee of the Pan American Cup.

Marte Hoffiz remarked on the victories achieved over the past two years including the silver medal at the U18 World Championship in Argentina. He also mentioned the fact that Annerys Vargas, recently elected the Dominican Player of the Year, is still an important piece of the national team after making her international debut at the FIVB 1998 World Championship.

Mejía Oviedo, Díaz and Lopez took turns to address the attendants as well as De la Cruz who is back in the country after taking part in the Italian League.
