Eight teams go for two World Champs tickets

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras, August 25, 2018 – The U18 NORCECA Girls Continental Championship to be disputed in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from August 27 to September 1 will have a new schedule because of the withdrawal of Mexico.

Eight team will be disputed two spot for the U18 Girls FIVB World Championship.

Now, the championship will have two pools. In the pool A are Honduras, United State, Barbados and Nicaragua. In pool B, Dominican Republic, two time champions, and will play with Cuba, Costa Rica and Canada.

The top two pool leaders will advance directly to the semifinals while the seconds and third place will play in the quarterfinals.

"A big investment was made to revamp the National Volleyball Gym. The dressing rooms, the bathrooms, the roof, as well as the painting were improved, which will allow us to host other events in the future," said Felix Sabio, president of Honduras Volleyball Federation.

"This is an event of great importance for Honduras’ volleyball,  since 1990 we did not have an event of that level. This commits us to the NORCECA Confederation, with its president Cristobal Marte, who has supported our country a lot so that we can do this type of tournaments, which allows us to reach the level we want", said Sabio.
