Franklyn, Lee charge up St Vincent to third sport in Group K

 

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, July 28, 2013-   Team Captain Cassius Franklyn and Kemaul Lee, registered 20 points and 13 points, respectively, as St Vincent and the Grenadines rallied back from a set down to take the third spot with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-18) defeat of the British Virgin Islands inGroup K of the 2014 FIVB NORCECA Men’s Qualifiers here at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Sunday evening.

 

Among Franklyn’s tally were 18 spikes, while Lee had 11.

The main scorer for the British Virgin Islands was Canice Marquis who had 12 points. The other double digit contributor was Nevin Braithwaite with 10 points.

 

St Vincent and the Grenadines finished with two wins and two losses, while the British Virgin Islands ended the tournament without a win, losing all four matches.

 

For coach of the St Vincent and the Grenadines outfit- Dominic White, it was a consolation to at least take away the bronze medal.

 

“It is some satisfaction by taking back home the bronze medal… This should encourage us for future tournaments … It was good tournament for us “, White said.

 

Meanwhile for coach of the British Virgin Islands team- Stephen Payne, is back to the drawing board.

 

“We have to go back to the drawing board, look for new, younger players and do some reshaping and put together a succession plan”, Payne emphasised.
