Hernández tops Ideal Team of Week 3 in PUR

 

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, February 12, 2019 – The offensive and defensive contributions from Legna Hernandez were fundamentals as her team Changas de Naranjito kept their unbeaten record after three weeks of actions in the Women’s Puerto Rican Superior League.

 

Hernandez was elected the Most Valuable Player of Week 3 after scoring 18, 24 and 19 points, respectively in the three victories by Changas.

 

Hernandez’s performance helped her to move from 15th to 5th place in the list of the best scorer with 101 points (77 in attacks, six in blocks and 18 with direct services). Her 18 aces sit her at the top of the category. Besides she is 8th in defenses with 85.

 

Hernandez was part of the ideal team of the week as outside hitter alongside Paulina Prieto of Valencianas de Juncos. Prieto is tops in scoring with 151 and attacks with 135 and has been part of the ideal team in all three weeks of the season.

 

The middle blockers of the week were Ivonessa García of Juncos and Paola Rivera of Naranjito. Rivera leads in blocks with 25 while Garcia has 21.

 

Once again, Kathia Sanchez was the setter of the Ideal-Seven. The Indias’ setter totals 178 assists in 26 sets for a 6.85 percentage.

 

The Ideal Team is completed by opposite attacker Sarai Alvarez of Mayaguez and the libero Stephanie Salas of Amazonas de Trujillo Alto.
