International Volleyball is back at “City of Eternal Spring”
TRUJILLO, Peru, July 4, 2019 - High level volleyball returns to
Peruvian soil, with the eighteenth edition of the Senior Women's
Volleyball Pan American Cup to be held in the cities of Chiclayo
and Trujillo, from July 06 to 14.
The race marks the beginning of the qualification process for
the Pan-American Games of Santiago 2023, and this time it has
the participation of 11 delegations which arrived on Thursday at
their respective venues.
Group A will play the first phase in the Great Chimú Coliseum of
Trujillo, the "City of Eternal Spring". Canada, which arrived
with its recent classification to the League of Nations 2020, is
part of this series along with Peru, Argentina, Cuba, Guatemala
and the Dominican Republic.
While Group B is formed by the defending champions United
States, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago;
who will play the preliminary round at the Coliseo Cerrado in
Chiclayo, the "City of Friendship".
"I thank the Peruvian Volleyball Federation (FPV), represented
by its president, Pilar González, for the outstanding work they
are doing by bringing a competitive sport event to the interior
of Peru, with Olympic teams and athletes," said the top
representative of the Norceca Volleyball Confederation,
Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz, during the official presentation of the
event that took place in Trujillo, with the presence of the
local team and its technical staff.
On the other hand, the president of the FPV, Pilar Gonzalez,
said that "after twice hosting the FIVB World Grand Prix,
international volleyball returns to the City of Eternal Spring.
We know that the fans inside and outside of Peru, are guaranteed
a top quality sport show, we hope that the fans of this
beautiful sport will join us in the coliseum where they will
live the best volleyball experience in our continent". |
