La Paz gets ready for Beach Volleyball

LA PAZ, Mexico, April 19, 2018 - Everything is ready for the Norceca Beach Volleyball Continental Tour Stop that begins on Friday at the Baja California Sur capitol Harbourside courts.

A total of 31 couples from several countries will compete in both genders after a successful stop played in Aguascalientes a week ago.

“We expect to have a great tournament just like it was a year ago to be considered as the best one of the tour”, said the General Director of the Baja California Sur Sports Institute, Jose Avila.

A temporary stadium with an estimated capacity of 3,000 spectators was built. However local organizing committee authorities remarked that for the next three days a total of 25,000 persons may attend to this event.

On behalf of NORCECA President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, competition director Daymian Stewart stated that the Confederation has good references about La Paz. “For the last two editions the local organizing committee has worked very well. This has been a good event so the players have returned and feel very glad to play at this stop,” He said.

“Players have a good interaction with the fans who have showed their support in every match. We hope this stop can be definitively part of the circuit,” Stewart added.

On behalf of the local team, Mexican player Martha Revuelta remarked that this kind of tournaments are very important because they provide points and the chance to prepare to other competitions like the World Championships, as well as the Central American and Caribbean in Barranquilla as part of the Olympic cycle that concludes in Tokyo 2020.

A total of 16 female couples and 15 male couples are part of this stop. Among the countries that will put the ball on play are Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, The United States and the US Virgin Islands.
