				Marte Hoffiz received by organizers of Tokyo Games 
				
				
				  
				
				
				SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 24, 2018 – NORCECA 
				President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz paid a courtesy visit to the 
				premises of the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 
				Games where he was received by volleyball legend Yuko Arakida, 
				who is member of the Board of both the Games and the Japan 
				Volleyball Association. 
				
				
				  
				
				
				Marte Hoffiz, on behalf of NORCECA presented his gratitude for 
				her personal intervention to get the approval and coordinate the 
				training camps of several teams of the confederation that took 
				part in the 2018 Women’s World Championship. 
				
				
				  
				
				
				The countries who benefitted from the facilities offered by the 
				municipalities of Japan ahead of the championship were: 
				
				
				  
				
				
				Cuba in Saitama, Trinidad & Tobago in Ageo-Yokohama, Dominican 
				Republic in Okayama, Puerto Rico in Osaka and Mexico in 
				Hiroshima. 
				
				
				  
				
				
				Among the topics of the meeting, Marte Hoffiz and Arakida 
				analyzed the possibilities of repeating the experience with the 
				teams from NORCECA qualified to the 2019 FIVB World Cup and the 
				2020 Tokyo Games and those can also develop training camps with 
				10 days of anticipation of the start of the events. 
				
				
				  
				
				
				
				Who is Yuko Arakida 
				
				
				  
				
				
				Arakida born in 1954, is also Executive Board Member of the 
				Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC). 
				
				
				  
				
				
				She was an Olympic champion at the 1976 Games in Montreal and 
				member of Japan’s gold medal-winning teams at the 1974 FIVB 
				Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Mexico, and the FIVB 
				Volleyball Women’s World Cup 1977 in Japan. 
				
				
				  
				
				
				During her heyday as an athlete she led both national teams and 
				club teams on the international stage in Switzerland and 
				Germany.  |
