Men’s Volleyball to get underway at Lima 2019 Pan Am Games

 

LIMA, Peru, July 30, 2019. - The Men’s Volleyball tournament at the XVIII Pan American Games in Lima, Peru is ready to get underway at the Multipurpose Complex Callao running from July 31 to August 4.

 

The official hall was built as part of the new infrastructure for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, located at the Regional Sports Village of Callao and with a capacity of 6,100 spectators.

 

With eight national teams taking part of the event, defending champions Argentina are back at the Pan American Games aiming to win their third gold medal after their dramatic comeback in the past edition in Toronto, where they outdueled Brazil 3-2 (25-23, 18-25,  19-25, 25-23, 15-8).

 

Teams are distributed in two groups, with current champion Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico and host Peru in pool A, while pool B consists of the 2015 runner up Brazil, Chile, Mexico and United States.

 

Pool-play will be held in three days, with the first and second places in each pool advancing into cross over semifinals, while third and fourth positions will play for placing matches.

 

Members of the Pan American Union Volleyball control committee held their first working meeting to prepare for the preliminary inquiries and general technical meeting to take place on Tuesday.
