Molero named Coach of the Year in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 22, 2019 – Xiomara Molero, whose
team Amazonas de Trujillo Alto confirmed its participation a
week and a half before the start of the competition, was elected
Coach of the Year for the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League
2019.
Molero led Amazonas to a 12-12 record in the regular season
received 11 first-place votes, 12 second-place and two
third-place votes to total 98 points. She edged Juan Carlos
Núñez of Criollas de Caguas who got 10 first-place mentions and
81 points.
The All-Star Team was also announced with Karina Ocasio of
Caguas leading with 36 first-place votes as best attacker,
followed by Debora Seilhamer as libero with 27 mentions.
Wilmarie Mojica of Trujillo Alto was named the best setter while
Noami Santos of Changas de Naranjito, was elected the other best
attacker.
The two middle blockers finished tied with 21 points and they
were Neira Ortiz of Aibonito and Alba Hernández of Trujillo
Alto.
The scoring leader of the season Paulina Prieto Cerame of Juncos
completed the Ideal Seven as the opposite attacker. |
