NORCECA Women’s Championship Final arrangements
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, October 6, 2019.- Final arrangements
are taking place in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the beginning
of the NORCECA Women’s Continental Championship to be held
at Roberto Clemente Coliseum from October 8 to 13.
The Organizing Committee and members of the NORCECA Control
Committee held a joint meeting on Sunday to review all the
arrangements and details of the competition that starts on
Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by NORCECA President Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz who in addition of giving the welcoming words,
stressed the importance of the biennial event that this year
is one of the stages of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
qualification tournaments.
Dr. Cesar Trabanco President of the Puerto Rican Volleyball
Federation expressed the excitement and attention drawn
toward the event as United States, ranked No. 2 of the
world, and Dominican Republic known as “Las Reinas del
Caribe” have confirmed to compete with same teams that just
finished the FIVB World Cup in Japan and the arrival Cuba
that hasn’t been in Puerto Rico since 2005.
The training and preliminary inquiries schedules were
checked out, as well as transportation, meals and lodging
details. The meeting was followed by an inspection visit to
the venue.
The NORCECA championship crowns the best team from the North
American, Central America and the Caribbean and the top
three ranked teams at the end of the competition not already
qualified to the final stage of the NORCECA Qualification
Tournament to the Tokyo 2020 Games to be held next January.
