NORCECA offers huge support to organizers of Barranquilla 2018

 

BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, March 24, 2017 – The president NORCECA Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA), Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, during the inspection visit to the city of Barranquilla, announced the donation by the institution under his direction of sport equipment for the volleyball and beach volleyball competitions included in the program of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games 2018 to be held in Barranquilla, Colombia.

 

Marte Hoffiz made the important announcement during a working meeting with Hector Cardona, president of the Central American and Caribbean Sport Organization (CACSO) and authorities of the Organizing Committee of the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla, Colombia, 2018.

 

The Dominican sport leader was accompanied by Dr. Rafael Lloreda, President of the South American Volleyball Confederation and treasurer of the Colombian Olympic Committee.

 

 “This donation exceeds by much the one NORCECA made to the past Central American and Caribbean Games held in Veracruz, Mexico in 2014 and will mean a big financial save in the operational budget of the Organizing Committee of Barranquilla (Cobar 2018)” said Cardona.

 

The donation includes one Sport Court Connor Volleyball playing surface to be placed in Humberto Perea Gymnasium, currently under construction located in the downtown area of Barranquilla. Also includes Molten volleyballs, the Official Volleyball homologated for the competitions, net, volleyball carts, antennas, scoreboards for both volleyball and beach volleyball.

 

The donation and assistance from NORCECA also includes the high tech software currently going through a testing period that is foreseen to be implemented by FIVB in all the official tournaments in 2017 to improve the Volleyball Information System, VIS.

 

Marte Hoffiz expressed that NORCECA will assist the organizers with instructors to direct training courses in the areas of refereeing, scoring, computerized statistics for the Volleyball Information System, VIS, press and photography.

 

Eight teams per gender in volleyball and 24 pairs per gender in beach volleyball will take part in the Games.

 

The Organizing Committee was represented Armando Segovia, technical director, and the participants included also Humberto Cintron, director of CACSO Technical Commission and Arateide Caceres, director of National Federations of NORCECA.
