SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 22,
2022 – The NORCECA/FIVB Regional Development
Center of Volleyball in the Dominican Republic
started on Friday a National Course Level I for
Referees, Scorers and Line Judges under the
direction of Mexican Luis Gerardo Macías.
This course forms part of the training program
for the current year organized by the center
directed by Professor Nelson Ramirez.
Before the start of the opening ceremony, the
participants observed a minute of silence to
remember Marta Centeno, former president of
AFECAVOL, vice president of NORCECA and FIVB who
passed away in the early hours of Friday in her
native Guatemala.
The opening ceremony took place in the presence
of Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of
NORCECA and First Executive Vice President of
FIVB, Mr. Antonio Acosta president of the
Dominican Olympic Committee and Ramón A. Garcia
president of the Dominican Volleyball
Federation.
This course is part of the Courses and Seminars
programmed in 2022 by the Development Center
directed by Professor Nelson José Ramírez.
Thirty-five referees hailing from all provinces
of the Dominican Republic are participating in
the course as a result from the 10 regional
courses held throughout the country. Twenty of
the participants are female referees following
the policy outlined by the FIVB and the IOC.
The course instructors are Luis Gerardo Macías
from Mexico, Salvador Bautista, Bienvenido Mateo
and Julio Martínez from the Dominican Republic.
“These courses follow the line of the FIVB and
the president Dr. Ary Graca about the need for
technical and administrative training of the
National Federations personnel,” Marte Hoffiz
said.
While Mr. Antonio Acosta, president of the
Olympic Committee, congratulated the Dominican
Volleyball Federation for the great effort
always put into training all his technical and
administrative staff and that is the reason for
its great national and international prestige. .
He congratulated the executives of the entity
for being the first National Federation that has
qualified for the next Pan American Games in
Santiago de Chile 2023, in both the men's and
women's divisions. |
