Newberry and Starks to play for the bronze  

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, October 16, 2018 – Americans Devon Newberry and Lindsey Sparks will play for the girls’ bronze medal of the beach volleyball tournament of the Youth Olympic Games on Wednesday.

Newberry and Spars lost their semifinal contest to Italians Claudia Scampoli and Nicol Bertozzi 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) and will play for third place against Norway’s Frida Berntsen and Emilie Olimstad who lost to Russians Maria Voronina and Mariia Bocharova 2-0 (21-16, 21-11).

In the boys’ division, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig advanced to the gold medal match after a 2-0 (21-9, 21-16) victory over Hungary’s Attila Streli and Artur Hajos.

Ahman and Hellvig will play for the title against Yorick De Groot and Matthew Immers of The Netherlands who defeated Argentina’s Bautista Amieva and Mauro Zelayeta in three sets 2-1 (20-22, 21-17, 15-12).
