Nicaragua beats Panama in first victory

 

   

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, August 20, 2015.- Nicaragua beat Panama 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-14) in their first win at the XI Girls’ U-18 Central American Championship

 

Nicaragua controlled Panama with superiority in spikes 27-10 and 18-0 in service points. Panama committed 29 errors while Nicaragua committed 30, in a match that lasted one hour and nine minutes.

 

Nicaragua’s Belen Arcia led all scorers with 17 points, 11 attacks and 6 aces.  Nayoisse Campbell of Belize scored 7 points.

 

Leonela Carcache captain of Nicaragua said “despite that things got complicated in the third set, we reached our goal”.

 

Panama’s captain Noyoisse Campbell said “I want to congratulate my team because it was the first time we enjoyed playing and scored more points than other matches. We must settle for so little, I know we can do better”.

 

Panama´s coach Clarke Eliot indicated “today I didn’t argue with the referees, they did their job and we did ours, the girls played volleyball because we practiced our defense, and I always tried to cheer them up”.

 

With joy, coach Claudia Noguera of Nicaragua expressed “the team has improved with each match, with ups and downs, which is natural in this age-group; it’s the first tournament for many of the girls. They enjoyed winning a set yesterday and today they enjoyed victory”.

 

Nicaragua has a rest day on Friday, while Panama faces El Salvador in their last match of the event.
