Puerto Ricans Guzmán and Ocasio to Gala Awards
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, December 8, 2019 – Pablo Guzman and
Karina Ocasio have been selected as volleyball
representatives to the annual Award Gala of the Puerto Rican
Olympic Committee.
The president of the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation, Dr.
Cesar Trabanco, announced the designation of both athletes
who are members of the men and women national teams.
“Both of them had excellent years in the Superior League and
with the national team,” Dr. Trabanco said. “They are a
worthy representation of our sport in the awards ceremony.”
Ocasio helped Criollas of Caguas to their fifth consecutive
title in the Superior League while taking home the MVP award
for second year in a row. She was selected to the All-Star
team in the qualification tournament toward the Pan Am
Games.
Meanwhile, Guzman led a dream year for the debutants Mulos
of Juncos as he led the Superior League in scoring and won
the MVP award.
The Gala Olympic Awards will be held on December 21 at the
Luis Muñoz Marin Park in San Juan.
Both Ocasio and Guzman are first-time volleyball
representatives for the annual event.
