CAROLINA, Puerto Rico, July 2, 2015 – The Drawing of Lots
Ceremony for the FIVB U20 Women’s World Championship to be
contested in four cities of Puerto Rico took place on Wednesday
under the supervision of Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, First Executive
Vice President of FIVB and President of NORCECA Confederation.
The attendees to the ceremony held at Hotel Verdanza of Carolina
included Sara Rosario, President of The Puerto Rican Olympic
Committee, Nelson Perez, President of the Puerto Rican
Volleyball Federation, Juan Marquez, Mayor of Maunabo, one of
the hosting cities, and Johan Estades, Secretary of Sports of
Caguas, the main hosting city.
Hosts Puerto Rico will compete in Pool A along with teams from
Russia, Bulgaria and Cuba, while reigning champions China will
play in Pool B with the teams from Serbia, Peru and Mexico. Pool
C consists of sides from Japan, Italy, Chinese Taipei and Egypt
and Pool D is formed by Brazil, Turkey, Dominican Republic and
Czech Republic.
“We have conducted a transparent drawing of lots and the
different groups look very competitive and challenging,” Marte
Hoffiz said. “We are looking forward to have a great world
championship and I wish the best of luck to the 16 national
teams taking part on it.”
“We are very proud of this opportunity to host the world
championship and have obtained the full support of four great
cities of Puerto Rico,” Perez said. “I am sure we will have a
successful event.”
The FIVB U20 Women’s World Championship will be played in the
cities of Caguas, Juncos, Gurabo and Maunabo from September 11
to 19. |
