US Virgin Islands qualify to Inter-Zonal NORCECA Continental Cup

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands, April 28, 2019. - The U.S. Virgin Islands qualified to the Inter-Zonal Men’s NORCECA Continental Cup, the second phase of the Beach Volleyball Continental Cup qualifier to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, beating Cayman Islands 2-0 at the CAZOVA zonal phase.

The men’s series between the U.S. Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands, the second and third CAZOVA ranked teams, where the number one seeds faced each other followed the second seeds contests, was held during the second stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Cayman Islands in beautiful Seven Mile Beach.

The first tandem to contribute with the winning side was Marc Lomeli and Austin Pippen who had difficulties in the second set after an overwhelming first set, beating Casey Santamaria and Jesse Parhan 2-0 (21-9, 23-21).

Brian Kwasny and Gabriel Ospina followed winning to Richard Campbell and Nathan Dack with another straight set victory 2-0 (21-11, 21-13).  

US Virgin Islands joins Trinidad and Tobago who is already qualified to the second phase of the NORCECA Continental Cup as the number one seed in CAZOVA.  

Results: ISV-A d CAY-A 2-0 (21-9, 23-21); ISV-B d CAY-B 2-0 (21-11, 21-13).
