finished as top scorer with 16 points for Japan while captain
Tsubasa Hisahara registered 14 and Motoki Eiro 10.
For Algeria, Larbi Ladroug
scored 10 points and Akram Dekkiche finished with 7.
The Japanese team adjusted
their block after Algeria tried to recover in the second set.
Japan converted 10 points by block while Algeria finished with
7. They also worked with good serve after Eiro and Ishikawa
finished with 2 aces apiece in a match that lasted 1 hour and 11
minutes.
Tunisia (18) d Rwanda (20)
3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 23-25, 25-13).
Tunisia finished in the 18th
place after beating Rwanda 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 23-25, 25-13).
Wassim Ben Tara was the best scorer of this match with a total
of 26 points and was followed by Jawhar Rebai, who concluded
with 14, while Ayman Soltani registered 11 for Tunisia. Ben Tara
also registered four aces and had five successful blocks. Rwanda
had their best weapon in Elias Ndagano, with 18, while captain
Jacques Iradukunda scored 13.

Mexico defeated the United
States in five sets (25-20, 26-28, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13) at the
Classification Round for places 9-16. Enrique Ugalde converted
24 points, including four aces. Alan Martinez finished with 13
and Ivan Molano with 11 for the Mexican team. On the American
side, Colby Harriman had his second match in a row as top scorer
for his team with a total of 18 points. Christopher Nugent
scored 17 while captain Christian Blough 14, and Kennet Pia
totalized 12.
USA had a more solid blocking
game with 9 effective plays while Mexico converted 5. The Serve
was the difference with seven aces, including Ugalde’s four. The
American team registered 4. The host team wil play for 13th
place, while USA for the 15th position.
Chile d Turkey 3-1 (32-30,
25-22,14-25, 25-14)
Chile beat Turkey for the
second time 3-1 (32-30, 25-22,14-25, 25-14) and will match
Mexico on Sunday. Dusan Bonacic had another solid performance
for his team by totalizing 21 points and reached a total of 143
during the tournament to remain as scoring leader of the
competition. Simon Guerra and Christopher Baeza registered 14
apiece for the South American squad while Turkey's Cansin Ogbai
Enaboifo finished with 20 points and Yasin Aydin with 17. Melih
Siratca scored 14 and Captain Yigit Gulmezoglu 12. Turkey will
match host team, Mexico for the 13th place, and Turkey will play
against USA for 15th place on Sunday.
Belgium d Egypt 3-0 (25-22,
25-23, 25-17)
Belgium beat Egypt 3-0 (25-22,
25-23, 25-17) and will play for ninth place on Sunday at FIVB
Boys' U19 World Championship. Stuer Lowie scored 18 points for
Belgium, Jonas Colson registered 14 and Arno Van De Velde
finished with 10 for the Belgian team that dominated in block
and serve with 11 points and 5 team aces (two by Colson and two
by Florian Malisse). Egypt's top scorer was Mohamed Hassan with
18 points. Mohamed Shehabeldeen finished with only 7. Egypt
will play for 11th place against Finland.
Korea d Finland 3-1 (18-25,
25-20, 25-20, 26-24)
Korea won against Finland in
four sets (18-25, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24) and advanced to the match
for ninth place that will be played at Mexicali State Auditorium
on Sunday. Han Sunjgeong scored 19 points for Korea
while Captain Dong-Geun Jeong and Sangjun Park recorded 13
apiece.
Hwang Kyungmin also was with
the leading scorers of the Asian team with a total of 12
points. Sakari Mäkinen completed 17 points, while Karri
Kutinlahti and Lauri Jylhä concluded with 11 apiece. The
Finnish team led in blocks with 13 points in total against only
8 by Korea. The Europeans also looked more superior in service
with five team aces (3 for Kutinlahti) against 2 by Korea that
will play against Belgium. |
