Winnipeg Welcomes NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship
WINNIPEG, Canada. August 27, 2019 – The NORCECA Men’s
Continental Championship will be contested at the university of Winnipeg from September 2 to
7 with the participation of eight teams.
The top three ranked teams not already qualified will earn
tickets to the NORCECA Final Four Olympic Qualification
Tournament to be held in January.
Cuba is already qualified to the NORCECA Final Four, while
United States was among the six qualified teams through the
FIVB Men’s Tokyo Qualification Tournaments held in August
9-11.
The participating teams are:
In Pool A: Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Suriname and in
Pool B: Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala and United
States.
The pool play will run from September 2-4 with the winners
moving directly into the semifinal phase. The second and
third placed teams will meet in crossed quarterfinals
matches on September 5 with the semifinal and final matches
contested on September 6-7.
Four matches will be played daily starting at 13:00 (local
time). The first match of the tournament features Guatemala
against Cuba.
The members of the NORCECA Control Committee will arrive on
August 30 and the teams and international referees on August
31. The departure date for all the delegations and officers
is September 8.
