Women of Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala with strong start

 

PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras, November 2, 2018 - The home girls Cecille Johnson/Shanna Rivera (HON 1) got two opening victories in the start of the XI Central American Sub-21 Beach Volleyball Championship, to lead group B after day one.

 

Johnson/Rivera won 2-0 (21-8, 21-12) to Alejandra Mariona/Dana Funes of El Salvador 2 in group B. Then the Hondurans won 2-1 (21-23, 21-19, 17- 15) to sisters Irena and Lucía Gómez of Costa Rica 1.

 

Mariona/Funes won 2-0 (21-12, 21-18) to Maria Fernanda Chamorro/Fernanda Romero (NCA 2).

 

Martha Guillermo/Kimberly Cardona (GUA 2) achieved a 2-1 victory (21-14, 17-21, 15-8) against Nicaragua 2.

 

In Group A, Guatemala 1 with María Fernanda Juárez/Paola Alvarado started with two victories. The first 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) against Larissa Villegas / Ana Paula Fallas (CRC 2), then won 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) to Nicaraguans Lourdes Lugo /Anielka Alonso (NCA 1).

 

Villegas/Fallas won 2-0 (21-17, 21-6) to Gabriela Funes/Sofía Velásquez (ESA 1) and ended the day winning 2-0 (21-16, 21-11) to Honduras 2 (Xue Murillo/Shantte Siliezar).

 

Funes/Velásquez also achieved two wins, by winning 2-1 (21-15, 14-21, 15-11) to Honduras 2, and 2-0 (22-20, 21-13) to Nicaragua 1.
