Dominican Republic Returns to U23 Pan American
Cup Final
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 5, 2026.- The
Dominican Republic returned to the final of the
NORCECA U23 Women’s Pan American Cup after a
two-year absence, following a straight-set 3-0
(25-15, 25-11, 25-10) victory over Nicaragua. On
Sunday, they will face defending champion United
States for the gold medal. The Dominican team
closed the preliminary round with a 3-2 record,
the same as Mexico and Canada, but the point
standings gave the Dominican Republic the berth
in the final. The Dominican Republic finished
with 18 points, Mexico with 16 and Canada with
14. Costa Rica and Nicaragua will meet for
positions 5-6 on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., followed
by the bronze medal match between Mexico and
Canada at 3:00 p.m.

USA Finishes Preliminary Round Undefeated after Five-Set Battle
with Mexico
MANAGUA, Nicaragua, September 5, 2026.- The United States
completed the preliminary round undefeated with a 5-0 record
after defeating a determined Mexico 3-2 (27-25, 18-25, 25-23,
23-25, 15-13) at the NORCECA U23 Women’s Pan American Cup.
Mexico entered the match needing a victory to secure its place
in the gold medal match and responded with outstanding defense,
pushing the United States to the limit in a five-set battle. The
United States held the advantage in attacks 58-46 and blocks
17-12, while Mexico led 7-2 in aces. USA committed 46 errors
compared to Mexico’s 30. Kendall Omoruyi led the United States
with 18 points, followed by Megan Hodges with 16, including a
match-high seven blocks.
