Bahamas take most of the individual spoils in Group I World
qualifiers

after the completion of the FIVB’s Men World Cup Qualifiers,
Group I, Bahamas took way most of the individual awards.

Barbados stuns Bahamas in enthralling final
Marigot, St. Martin, August 11, 2013 - Barbados turned the
tables on Bahamas and stunned them in a thrilling finals that
went to four sets (25-15,22-25 25- 17 and 25-23). Hence at the
end of the FIVB Men's World Championship qualifier Group I,
Barbados won and advanced to the next round in 2014.BBarbados
outscored Bahamas in Spikes 50-47 and in Service points 6-4
whereas Bahamas led in blocks 9-7.
Princ Tanique Wilson led as usual for Bahamans with a game high
22 points.More

Nicaragua happy to grab third place
Marigot, St. Martin, August 11, 2013 - Nicaragua ensured that
they did not return home empty handed when they took care of St.
Martin in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25 -21) while playing in
the third place playoff game of the FIVB Men World Cup
Qualifier group I.
The defeat meant that St. Martin suffered the ignominy of going
out of the tournament without winning a set.

Barbados secures a final berth with victory over St. Martin
Marigot, St. Martin, August 11, 2013 - Barbados earned the
right to play in the finals of the FIVB Men World Cup Qualifier
group I when they defeated hosts St. Martin 3-0
(25-22,25-18,25-20 ). Clearly, it was the best effort by St.
Martin over three games but it was still not good enough for
victory as everything went Barbados' way when it mattered.
Coach Ludger Niles of Barbados admitted to playing a very
strategic game.

Bahamas survives a grueling five setter against Nicaragua
Marigot, St. Martin, August 11, 2013 - Tournament favourites
Bahamas was made to put in a workmanlike performance in order to
overcome a gritty Nicaraguan team in five sets :- 19-25, 25- 20,
25-19,19 -25 and 15 - 6. The game was the last preliminary
match for both teams in the FIVB Men's World Cup Qualifiers
group I.

Nicaragua brushes aside St. Martin
Marigot, St. Martin August 10 2013 - Nicaragua recorded their
first victory in the Men's World Cup Qualifiers group I when
they defeated hosts St. Martin in straight sets (25-23, 25 -15
and 25-14).
The first game promised a competitive match but St. Martin
flattered to deceive and were almost blown away in the other two
sets.
Nicaragua depended on an overall team performance to achieve the
victory and their efforts were reflected

Bahamas all smiles with another victory
Marigot, St. Martin August 10 2013 - Team Bahamas got a second
victory in as many matches when they put away strong contenders
Barbados in straight sets (25-23, 25-21 and 25-22) in the third
match of the Men's World Cup Qualifiers group I.
It was the most competitive game so far in term of points
deferential but Bahamas kept their poise to starve off
Barbados' rallies at crucial points in the games.

Barbados dominates opening set against Nicaragua
Marigot, St. Martin August 10 2013 - Team Barbados poured in a
dominating performance against Nicaragua winning in straight
sets (25-13, 25-15 and 25-23) in the opening encounter of the
Men's World Cup Qualifiers group I.
In the first two sets Barbados made it look too easy chalking
up several scoring unanswered runs until they met with some
resistance in the third set.
Barbados led Nicaragua in the blocking department 13 -4

Expectations run high on the eve of Group I qualifier
MARIGOT, St. Martin August 9, 2013- Team officials from the four
teams of the FIVB Men's World Championships group I were all
keen to do very well in this competition and qualify for the
next round.
