Peru win gold medal at U20 Final Four Cup
LIMA, Peru, October 19, 2014 – Fans in Peru had reasons to
celebrate as their women’s junior national team won the gold
medal in the U20 Women’s Final Four Gatorade Cup with a 3-1
(25-19, 25-21, 17-25, 25-17) victory over Argentina at Eduardo
Dibos Coliseum on Sunday.
Once again Maguilaura Frias led the Peruvian offense with 17
points, followed by Angela Leyva and Coraima Gomez each with 13
points. Argentina’s Sol Piccolo finished with 15 points and
Camila Hiruela had 14 in the loss. The winners led in attacks (50-44) and in aces (7-2) with the

Dominican Republic gets the bronze medal
LIMA, Peru, October 19, 2014 – Dominican Republic claimed the
bronze medal in the U20 Final Four Women’s Volleyball Gatorade
Cup with a straight-set (25-15, 25-20, 25-16) victory over Cuba
on Sunday. The second victory of the Dominicans over Cuba in the tournament
took 1 hour and two minutes of action. The winners held the
advantage in attacks (40-26) and blocks (8-5) with the losers
with the edge in the service winners (7-5). Massiel Matos (19), Vielka Peralta (12) and Natalia Martinez
(10) once again led the offense of Dominican Republic that
finished the event with two victories over Cuba.

Peru to play Argentina for the gold at U20 Final Four
LIMA, Peru, October 18, 2014 – Peru reserved their best match
for the third day of the U20 Final Gour Women’s Gatorade Cup by
defeating Dominican Republic in straight sets (28-26, 25-17,
25-13) in front of about 3,000 spectators at the Eduardo Dibos
Coliseum on Saturday. Peru, undefeated in three outings, will play Argentina for the
gold medal on Sunday night. Argentina swept Cuba in the first
match of the day and finished in second place in the preliminary

Argentina outclassed Cuba in the Final Four U20
LIMA, Peru, October 18, 2014 – Argentina outclassed Cuba (25-10,
25-8, 25-17) in just 54 minutes of action during the third day
at the U20 Final Four Women’s Volleyball Gatorade Cup at Eduardo
Dibos Coliseum on Saturday. Captain Sol Piccolo led Argentina with 19 points, followed by
Camila Hiruela who tallied 11 points. Claudia Hernandez topped
Cuba with just nine points. Argentina showed their power leading
in attacks (35-16) and aces (7-1) while getting the edge in
blocking (6-5). Guillermo Nazabal, coach of Argentina, said
they had two missing players in their squad so the team went out.

Perú undefeated at the U20 Final Four Gatorade Cup
LIMA, Peru, October 17, 2014 – Hosts Peru overcame Cuba in four
sets (23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-13) to claim their second victory
in as many days in the U20 Final Four Women’s Gatorade Cup at
Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Friday. The home girls recovered from losing the first set inspired by
the attack of the captain Angela Leyva and never stopped until
the end of the match. Leyva registered 16 points in the second victory of Peru,
followed by Katherine Regalado with 14 and Maguilaura Frias and
Coraima Gomez with 11 and 10 points, respectively. For the

Argentina outplays Dominican Republic in five sets
LIMA, Peru, October 17, 2014 – Argentina battled during five
sets before claiming a 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 23-25, 15-3 victory
over Dominican Republic to get their first triumph in the U20
Final Four Women’s Gatorade Cup at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on
Friday. Candelaria Herrera and Sol Piccolo paced the winners’ offense
with 19 points apiece, followed by Irena Verasio and Camila
Hiruela, with 14 and 13, respectively. Natalia Martinez had a
match-high 23 points for the Dominican Republic. Vielka Peralta
added 12 and Massiel Matos and Lisbeth Rosario each charted 11
points.

five-set thrilling duel against Argentina (26-24, 19-25, 25-19,
15-25, 15-10) at Eduardo Dibos Coliseum on Thursday. Angela Leyva, the captain of the host team, led the Peruvian

Lima to live the emotion of U20 Final Four Gatorade Cup

of international volleyball at Edurado Dibos Coliseum from
October 16-19 when the national female teams of Peru, Argentina,
Cuba and Dominican Republic battle at the Gatorade Cup U20 Final

Gatorade’s U20 Pan Am Final Four in Peru
LIMA, Peru, October 13, 2014 – The inaugural Gatorade’s U20 Pan
American Women’s Final Four will take place at Eduardo Dibós
Coliseum of Lima from October 16-19.
Teams from Argentina, Cuba, Dominican Republic and hosts Peru
will play a preliminary round-robin from 16-18 with the top two
teams playing for the gold medal and the third and placed sides
will meet for the bronze.
