Mexico Defeats Puerto Rico and Achieves a Three-Way Tie in Pool A

COLIMA, Mexico, August 7, 2025 – In a hard-fought match, Mexico defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 22-25, 30-28), creating a three-way tie in Pool A of the Pan American Volleyball Cup, an event held in Colima, Mexico. Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Peru finished the Pool A round robin all with a 3-1 record. Based on points, Puerto Rico advanced directly to the semifinals, pushing Mexico to second place and Peru to third. Mexico dominated all aspects of the game: attacks 52-45, blocks 15-6, and serves 9-8. For the home team, Sofía Maldonado had 23 points, followed by Melanie Parra with 17 and Grecia Castro with 15. Decelise Champion led the field for Puerto Rico with 12 points, followed by Valeria Vázquez with 10. Mexico will face Venezuela in the quarterfinals, while Colombia will play Peru. More Español

USA undefeated so far at U21 tournament

Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025: USA came out strong and held off a mid-match challenge from Canada, to stay undefeated at the U21 Men’s Pan American Cup, hosted at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  The final score for USA was 3-1 (25-11, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22).  The United States led in attack points (52-39), had one more blocking point (7-6) and were 6-3 in serves today. Canada made one more error (33-32) than its southern neighbors. USA’s captain Sebastiano Sani led scoring with 21 points (19 kills, a block and an ace). Daniil Hershtynovich led Canada’s scoring effort with 15 points.  

USA head coach John Hawks commented: “First of all, I loved playing the home team on the home court, that was a great showing by the fans. Secondly, we came out sharp, we played well and put on pressure from the service line.  More Español

Dominican Republic Advances to Semifinals

COLIMA, Mexico, August 7, 2025.- The Dominican Republic defeated Canada in five sets 3-2 (25-19, 15-25, 25-14, 26-28, 15-10) securing a direct ticket to the XXII Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup semifinals being held in Colima, Mexico. The Dominicans finished undefeated in Pool B, while Canada finished fourth place with a 1-3 record and will play for positions 7 to 10.  The Dominican Republic led in attacks 53-43 and scored one point more in blocks 12-11, while Canada was stronger in serves 14-12.  More Español

Venezuela Wins Over Trinidad and Tobago

COLIMA, Mexico, August 7, 2025 – Venezuela earned a 3-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago (25-17, 25-16, 25-12) in the XXII Women’s Pan American Cup in Colima, Mexico. With this result, Venezuela finished pool B in third place with 2-2 record and advanced to quarterfinals. Trinidad and Tobago with 0-4 will play for positions 7-10. Venezuela led in attacks 42-22, in blocks 10-5, and in serves 7-0. Venezuela’s attack was led by Mariangel Vivas, who had 15 points. More Español

Chile earns second U21 Pan Am Cup win

Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025:  Chile earned its second consecutive win at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  Today Puerto Rico could not maintain its early momentum, falling 1-3 (25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 22-25) to Chile.  Chile led in attack points (52-40), blocks were even at nine and Puerto Rico had the advance in aces (7-5). Cuba prevails over Costa Rica

COLIMA, Mexico, August 7, 2025 – Cuba needed just three sets to defeat Costa Rica 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-16) in the first match of Thursday's Pan American Volleyball Cup, being played at the Multifunctional Auditorium of the Morelos Sports Complex in Colima, Mexico. Cuba ends pool-play with a  1-3 record and Costa Rica with 0-4. Both teams will play for positions 7 to 10. The Cubans led in attacks 40-24, in blocks 9-5, and in serves 6-1. More Español

Mexico earns win over Barbados at U21 Pan Am Cup

Calgary, Aug. 07, 2025:  Mexico proved too powerful on attack for Barbados to handle today at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The final score was Mexico 3, Barbados 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-17). Mexico dominated the attack stats, 45-21, and led in blocks 5-4 and aces 4-3. Mexico also made fewer errors 19-23. More Español

International Level 1 Coaching Course Begins in Belize

BELIZE CITY, Belize, August 7, 2025. – With the participation of 27 coaches, an International Level 1 Coaching Course has officially begun in Belize as part of the training and development program promoted by the NORCECA/FIVB Regional Volleyball Development Center based in the Dominican Republic. The course is being held at the Belize Olympic Committee facilities and the training center of the Belize National Volleyball Federation and will run for five days. More Español

COLIMA, Mexico, August 6, 2025.- Colombia defeated Venezuela in consecutive sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-16) at the XXII Pan American Volleyball Cup in Colima, Mexico. COLIMA, Mexico, August 5, 2025 – Puerto Rico defeated Cuba 3-2 (25-27, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12) in what was the most hard-fought match of the XXII Women’s Pan American Volleyball Cup being held in the city of Colima, Mexico.
