Cubans Peña and Quesada dominate in La Paz
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 9, 2017 – Cubans Karell Peña and Daisel
Quesada overcame home favorites Juan Virgen and Lombardo
Ontiveros of Mexico-A to claim the men’s gold medals of La Paz
Beach Volleyball Tournament, the first stop of the 2017 NORCECA
Circuit on Sunday night.
Peña and Quesada recovered from losing the first set by wide
margin to subdue the Mexican tandem 2-1 (13-21, 21-17, 15-8) in
45 minutes battle cheered from start to finish by the fans.

Cubans Echeverria and Martinez triumph in La Paz
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 9, 2017 – Cubans Lidiannis Echeverria and
Leila Martinez took home the women’s gold medals at La Paz Beach
Volleyball Tournament, the first event of the year of NORCECA
Circuit, on Sunday night.
The Cuban tandem battled Canadians Heather Bansley and Brandie
Wilkerson for 53 minutes before claiming a breathtaking 2-1
(21-19, 19-21, 15-13) victory.

México, Cuba and USA in men’s semifinals at La Paz
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 8, 2017- It will be a Mexican duel in one
of the semifinals at La Paz Beach Volleyball Tournament as
top-seeded Juan Virgen and Lombardo Ontiveros meet compatriots
José Rubio and Josué Gaxiola on Sunday. Cubans Karell Peña and Daisel Quesada will face Skylar del Sol
and Jon Mesko of United States-A in the other semifinal match.

Cuba, USA and Canada in Women’s Semifinals at La Paz
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 8, 2012 – Cubans Lidiannis Echeverria and
Leila Martinez will face the challenge from the USA team of
Kelley Larsen and Betsi Flint in the semifinals of La Paz Beach
Volleyball Tournament while two Canadian duos will be pitted in
the other Final Four contest on Sunday. Defending champion Brandie Wilkerson, playing this time with
Heather Bansley will meet fellow Canadians Kristina May and
Taylor Pischke in the other semifinal match.

Virgen and Ontiveros lead four with double victories
LA PAZ, México, April 7, 2017 – Mexicans Juan Virgen and
Lombardo Ontiveros won their two pool matches on Friday, the
first day of actions at La Paz Beach Volleyball Tournament, the
first stop of the 2017 NORCECA Circuit.
The home pair was one of four teams with double victories in the
opening day of the competition joining compatriots Josué Gaxiola
and Jose Rubio and Cubans Karell Peña and Daisel Quesada in Pool
C and Guatemalans Andy Leonardo and Luis Garcia in Pool B.

Echeverría and Martínez grab two victories at La Paz
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 7, 2017 – Cubans Lidiannis Echeverría and
Leila Martinez won their two matches of day one at the La Paz
Beach Volleyball Tournament including one over the top-seeded
Canadians Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson.
Echeverría and Martínez, who won a silver medal as a team in
Varadero in 2015, opened Friday with a morning victory 2-0
(21-7, 21-14) victory Costa Ricans Marcela Araya and Valeria
Valenciano in just 27 minutes.

Governor of Baja California Sur welcomes players
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 7, 2017 – The state governor of Baja
California Sur, H.E. Carlos Mendoza Davis, inaugurated the first
stop of the 2017 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit in La Paz
during an opening ceremony attended by over 4,000 spectators. Mendoza Davis said it is a high distinction to host the event
for a second year in a row highlighting the contribution of
sport events to the growth of the tourism in the region.

Paz welcomes the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit
LA PAZ, Mexico, April 7, 2017 – Great enthusiasm around the
beach volleyball fans can be perceived in this city located in
the southern part of the state of Baja California Sur with the
arrival of the teams about to participate in the first stop of
the 2017 NORCECA Circuit, where 12 male pairs and 9 female duos
hailing from 9 countries will battle for the medals starting on
Friday.
