GATINEAU, Canada, July 20, 2022 - Volleyball
Canada is proud to announce that the 2022 Men’s
XV Pan-American Cup is heading to Gatineau,
Quebec from August 7-15, 2022 at the Centre
Slush Puppie.
The event will bring together at least eight
teams, including Canada, USA, Brazil, and Cuba,
among others, with matches beginning Aug. 9 and
concluding on the 14th.
“We’re excited to host the first of what we hope
is many international events at the Centre Slush
Puppie,” said Alan Ahac, director of
international events for Volleyball Canada.
“After the success of men’s Volleyball Nations
League in Ottawa last month, we’re looking
forward to bringing teams from Pan Am countries
to this new facility in Gatineau.”
The tournament marks the first international
event at the Centre Slush Puppie, which
completed construction and officially opened in
2021. The event also serves as the first
qualification tournament for the XXIV Central
American & Caribbean Games 2023, to be held in
El Salvador and to the XIX Pan-American Games
in 2023, to be held in Santiago, Chile.
Group A will consist of USA, Cuba, Chile,
and Dominican Republic. Group B will be host
Canada, as well as Brazil, Puerto Rico and
Mexico. Matches will be held 11:30, 2 pm, 5:00
pm, 7:30 pm on Tuesday – Thursday & Saturday;
5:00 pm & 7:30 pm on Friday and 9:00 am, 11:30
pm, 2:30 pm, 5:00 pm on Sunday (Aug. 14).
Canada will get ready for the tournament with
two international exhibition games (opposing
teams TBA) on August 5 and 6, also in Gatineau.
