USA’s MVP Kyler Wade Headlines Men’s U21 Pan American Cup
Individual Awards
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, June 28, 2026. – United States
opposite hitter and team captain Kyler Wade was named the Most
Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 Men’s U21 Pan American Cup
after leading his team to an undefeated run and a second
consecutive tournament title on Sunday at the Teodoro Palacios
Flores Gymnasium in Guatemala City. Wade was one of four
American players recognized among the tournament's individual
award winners. In addition to earning MVP honors, he was
selected as Best Server, while teammate Mateo Fuerbringer
received the First Best Spiker award and Jonathan Dykstra was
named Best Receiver. Silver medalist Canada collected three
individual honors. Trevell Jordan was recognized as Second Best
Spiker, Matthew Siebenga earned First Best Blocker, and Matthew
Brown was selected as Best Setter.

United States Claims Back-to-Back Men's U21 Pan American Cup
Titles
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, June 28, 2026. – The United States
captured its second consecutive Men's U21 Pan American Cup title
after defeating Canada in straight sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-19,
25-14) in the gold medal match played at Teodoro Palacios Flores
Gymnasium in Guatemala City. The Americans completed a perfect
5-0 tournament to win their second straight gold medal following
last year's title and claimed their third championship in
tournament history, having also won the 2022 edition. Canada
finished with a 4-1 record and earned its second consecutive
silver medal and the fourth silver medal in its history. The
United States dominated every scoring skill, holding advantages
of 36-21 in attacks, 8-1 in blocks and 4-0 in aces, while also
committing slightly fewer unforced errors (26-27).

finished the tournament with a 4-2 record, while Mexico ended in
fourth place with a 3-3 mark. Costa Rica's blocking proved
decisive, holding a commanding 12-5 advantage over Mexico. The
Costa Ricans also committed fewer unforced errors, 21 to

Venezuela Takes Fifth Place at the U21 Pan American Cup

the Dominican Republic 3-1 (25-21, 27-29, 25-22, 26-24) to claim
fifth place at the U21 Pan American Cup, held at the Teodoro
Palacios Flores Gymnasium in Guatemala City. Venezuela closed
the tournament with its second victory over the Dominican
Republic, having also defeated the Caribbean side during the
pool phase. The win allowed Venezuela to finish with a 3-3
record and secure fifth place, while the Dominican Republic
ended the competition with a 1-4 mark. Venezuela held the edge
offensively, leading 54-46 in attacks, and capitalized on 32
Dominican unforced errors while committing 30 of its own. The
Dominican Republic held slim advantages in blocks (15-14) and
aces (5-3).

Guatemala Finishes Seventh at the Men’s U21 Pan American Cup
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, June 28, 2026. – Guatemala closed its
campaign at the 2026 Men’s U21 Pan American Cup with a 3-0
(25-17, 25-13, 25-16) victory over Nicaragua to finish in
seventh place at the tournament, held at Teodoro Palacios Flores
Gymnasium in Guatemala City. Guatemala controlled the match with
advantages of 31-22 in kills, 10-6 in blocks and 6-1 in aces,
while also capitalizing on 28 unforced errors by Nicaragua and
committing 17 of its own. Gerson Carranza led Guatemala’s
offense with 15 points, followed by Christian Álvarez with 11.
Álvaro Quesada was Nicaragua’s top scorer with 12 points.

Canada Survives Five-Set Battle with Mexico to Advance to U21
Pan Am Cup Final
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, June 27, 2026. – Canada survived an
intense five-set battle to defeat Mexico 3-2 (22-25, 25-23,
25-22, 30-32, 15-10) and advance to the final of the 2026 Men’s
U21 Pan American Cup, to be played this Sunday at the Teodoro
Palacios Flores Gymnasium.The final will once again feature
Canada and defending champion United States, in a rematch of the
2025 gold medal match, when the Americans claimed the title.
Canada will seek the first championship in its tournament
history, while Mexico will play Costa Rica for the bronze medal,
with an opportunity to win its second historic medal after
earning silver in 2022. Canada built its victory on a wide 14-4
advantage in blocks, while Mexico led in attacks 60-56. Both
teams finished tied with six aces, in a very close match that
also saw a similar number of unforced errors, with 42 by Canada
and 41 by Mexico

2026. – The United States defeated Costa Rica in straight sets

Men's U21 Pan American Cup, where it will seek its second

appearance in the tournament final. The defending champions will

Flores Gymnasium in Guatemala City. Venezuela will face the
Dominican Republic for fifth place, while Nicaragua will take on
host Guatemala in the seventh-place match. After dropping the
opening set, Venezuela responded with a 49-42 advantage in
attacks and a 5-1 edge in aces. Both teams finished with eight
blocks, while the South Americans committed fewer unforced
errors (32-36). Yoisbel Galeno once again led Venezuela in
scoring with 19 points, while Ángel Matute added 16. For
Nicaragua, Álvaro Quesada also scored 19 points and Joaquín
Padilla contributed 13.

Costa Rica Advances to Semifinals After Thrilling
Five-Set Victory over Venezuela

remarkable comeback to defeat Venezuela 3-2 (25-17, 25-27,
18-25, 25-20, 15-10) and secure its place in the semifinals of
the Men’s U21 Pan American Cup at Teodoro Palacios Flores
Gymnasium in Guatemala City.
With the victory, Costa Rica will face defending champion United
States in one of Saturday’s semifinals, while Canada will take
on Mexico in the other. Venezuela will play Nicaragua in the
classification round for positions five through eight.
The match featured a memorable battle between opposite hitters.
Stanley Grant led Costa Rica with 29 points, while Venezuela’s
Yoisbel Galeno delivered a spectacular performance with 33
points, the highest individual scoring output of the tournament
so far.

scheduled for Saturday, will be determined following the
conclusion of the match between Costa Rica and Venezuela.Mexico
held the advantage in attacks (48-35) and aces (2-1), while
Guatemala led in blocks (5-3). Mexico committed 17 unforced
errors compared to Guatemala’s 22. Cristian Cadena led Mexico
with 13 points, while José Luis Samayoa also scored 13 points to
pace Guatemala. They were the only players to reach double
figures in scoring.

undefeated and advanced straight to the semifinals. Guatemala
finished third in the pool and will face Mexico in Friday’s
quarterfinals at 5:00 p.m. Costa Rica, which placed second in
Pool B, will take on Venezuela at 7:00 p.m. Canada held the
advantage in every skill, leading 40-22 in attacks, 14-6 in
blocks and 10-0 in aces. However, Guatemala capitalized on
Canada's unforced errors, scoring 30 points off them, while
committing just 12 of its own.

difference came at the net, where the United States dominated in
blocking 11-1 while also holding a 6-3 advantage in aces. The
Americans capitalized on 23 Mexican errors while committing 17
of their own. Mexico held a slight edge in attacks, 36-35.
