21 Teams at the Sixth Stop of the NORCECA Tour

 

PUERTO CORTÉS, Honduras, October 17, 2024.- The sixth stop of the 2024 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour will begin this Friday, October 18, in Puerto Cortés, featuring 21 teams, 11 women's pairs and 10 men's pairs, competing for a spot on the podium.

 

In the women's competition, Pool A includes Nicaragua (Nahima Silva/Lolette Rodríguez), Guatemala (Natalia Girón/Paola Alvarado), and Honduras (Shanna Rivera/Cecille Johnson).

 

In Pool B are Costa Rica (Sofía Vega/Eugenia Ramírez), Jamaica (Petal Smith/Kristina Lumsden), USA (Katie Lindstrom/Tiffany Svenssohn), and Honduras (Valery Rodríguez/Greisy Cardona).

 

Pool C features the U.S. Virgin Islands (Sarah Penner/Melanie Valenciana), St. Kitts and Nevis (Shanicia Dyer/Shajunee Gumbs), Canada (Amy Ozee/Kaylee Glagau), and USA (Rachel Kramer/Jade Race).

 

The matches will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with Silva/Rodríguez (NCA) facing Girón/Alvarado (GUA), followed by Sofía Vega/Ramírez (CRC) versus Smith/Lumsden (JAM), and Lindstrom/Svenssohn (USA) against Rodríguez/Cardona (HON) at 10:40 a.m., in a total of 10 matches of the preliminary round.

 

On the men's side, 10 pairs will compete to make history in Honduras.

 

Pool A includes Guatemala (Edgar Maldonado/Luis García), Costa Rica (Justin Solano/Victorio), and Honduras (Irvin Reyes/Wilfredo Vega).

 

In Pool B are Nicaragua (Rubén Mora/Dany López), USA (Diego Pérez/Ryan Ierna), and Canada (Rouzbeh Rahnavard/Tynan Gannett). Group C consists of USA (Lev Priima/David Wieczoreck), Nicaragua (Axel Gutiérrez/Denis López), Honduras (Kenny Fernández/Germán Zelaya), and U.S. Virgin Islands (Bryce Mayer/Tyler Penberthy).

 

Maldonado/García (GUA) will play against Solano/Esteban (CRC) at 9:00 a.m. on court 2, followed by Mora/López (NCA) vs Priima/Wieczorek (USA) and Pérez/Ierna (USA) against Gutiérrez/López (NCA), in a total of eight pool-play matches.

 

In both divisions, the quarterfinals will feature first-place from Pool A facing the third place from Pool B/C. The other matchups will see the second place from Pool B face the second from Pool C. The first place from Pool C will play against the second from Pool A, and the first from Pool B will take on the third from Pool A/C, as the two best third-place teams will advance.
