Admission will be free in All-Star Game in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, March 2, 2015 – The All-Star Game of the
Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League will be played tonight
March 2 at Rafael G. Amalbert Gymnasium of Juncos.
“As a gift to the volleyball fans the admission will be free,”
said Nelson Perez, President of the Puerto Rican Volleyball
Federation. “We expect a great show and wanted to offer this
present to the fans as a gratitude for their support thus far in
the season.”
The All-Star Game will have the Natives versus Foreigners and
will be the first of its kind since 2010. It will be the tenth
time the two forces are pitted together. In the past nine
occasions the Foreigners dominated in seven on them, with the
Natives winning in 2002 and 2008.
The Natives team will consist of setters Vilmarie Mojica
(Juncos) and Natalia Valentín (Ponce).
The Middle Blockers are: Sheila Ocasio (Juncos), Odemaris Díaz
(Carolina), Jessica Candelario (Mayaguez). The Outside Hittters
are: Stephanie Enright (Caguas); Yarimar Rosa (Juncos); Legna
Hernández (Ponce); Vanessa Vélez (Carolina).
The Opposites are: Shirley Ferrer (Cataño); Sarai Álvarez (Mayagüez)
and Karina Ocasio (Caguas).
The two liberos of the Natives are> Nayka Benítez (Ponce) and
Debora Seilhamer (Cataño).
The team of Foreigners will have three local players to complete
the squad and they are the setter Jennifer Nogueras (Caguas),
and the liberos, Greyshmarie Pérez (Naranjito) and Stephanie
Salas (Carolina).
The rest of the Foreigners squad are the following:
Setters> Lauren Cook (Mayagüez) and Caithlyn Donahue (Cataño)
Middle Blockers: Jessica Jones (Caguas), Dulce M. Téllez
(Cataño) and Yasary Castrodad (Juncos)
Outside Hitters: Kristy Jaeckel (Naranjito), Kim Willoughby (Mayagüez),
Savannah Leaf (Caguas), McKenzie Adams (Mayagüez) and Olena
Ustymenko (Cataño).
Opposites: Elizabeth McMahon (Juncos), Alaina Bergsma (Carolina)
and Chaniel Nelson (Ponce).
The coaches of the All-Star Game are Juan Carlos Núñez (Caguas)
with the Natives, while Rigoberto ‘Rigo’ Guilloty (Mayagüez)
will be in front of the Foreigners.
The game is scheduled to start at 8:00 pm and the fans will get
the chance to make photos with their favorite players from 7:00
pm to 7:30 pm. |
