Amaral and Huerta still combine for success
MAZATLAN, Mexico, September 13, 2013 – You can call them the
motor nerves or the sparkplugs that put the engine in motion but
the tandem of Laura Amaral and Mayra Huerta continue to achieve
success in the sport of beach volleyball, now playing a
different role.
Long gone are the days when the pair won a bronze medal at the
1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, and the
participation of Huerta with Velia Eguiluz in the inaugural
beach volleyball tournament of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.
Now Amaral and Huerta have joined forces to spread the seed of
beach volleyball in their native Mexico and spearhead the
promotion of the sport within the NORCECA Confederation.
The very active Amaral presides over Promotora Larx, a company
that has been organizing with plenty success several stops of
the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit and continues looking to
reach higher plateaus.
Huerta, meanwhile, forms part of the FIVB and NORCECA Beach
Volleyball Commissions and her experienced input is highly
evaluated by her peers in both institutions.
Once again, they have been together the past week working with
the organization of the Mazatlan Beach Volleyball Tournament,
the sixth stop of the 2013 NORCECA Circuit -Laura leading her
staff and Mayra as delegate of NORCECA for the event.
They both love beach volleyball and are happy to keep links with
the sport is their passion after they retired from the sands.
Laura is still agile but not digging for volleyballs but
operating a battery of cell phones to oversee the smooth march
of the competition.
In the case of Mayra, she has changed her traditional playing
cap for a collection of hats that makes her elegantly distinct
while promoting the sport wherever she goes.
They are a hard-working combo aiming always for perfection. |
