LA PAZ, Mexico, April 8, 2016 - Americans Allison Daley
McColloch and Kelly Reeves began with the right foot after
winning their opening matches on the first day of activities at
the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit in Baja California Sur.
McColloch and Reeves of USA-B began the Pools Phase with a three
sets victory over Rachel Cockrell and Camille Saxton of
Canada-B, by scores of 19-21, 21-19, 15-8 in Pool A.
The duo that had won the first stage of the tour in Guatemala,
also won against Mexican-A team, composed by Cecilia Rios and
Itzel Santoyo by scores of 21-12 and 21-11.
Also undefeated in the first round are Kendra Vanzwieten and
Kimberly Dicello, of USA-A, who outplayed Aury Alvarez and Ada
Patricia Villalobos of Guatemala 2-0 (21-5, 21-6) and also
defeated Stephanie Burnside and Zaira Orellana of Mexico-B 2-0
(21-15, 21-15) to stay on top in Pool C.
Hosts Rios and Santoyo had previously won against Sidney and
Veronique Berthelot of Guadeloupe in straight sets (21-5, 21-7).
In this same Pool, the representatives of the French Caribbean
island also faced Cockrell and Saxton who claimed the victory in
two sets (21-9, 21-10).
Meanwhile the winners of the Guaymas Stop, Kimberly Dicello and
Kendra Vanzwieten of USA-A won against Aury Alvarez and Ada
Patricia Villalobos of Guatemala 2-0 (21-5, 21-6) in Pool B.
Stephanie Burnside and Zaira Orellana, of Mexico-B debuted with
a win against Ayana Dyette and Malika Davidson of Trinidad and
Tobago 21-8 and 21-11.
In Pool C, Julie Gordon and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada
defeated Diana Estrada Ana Rios of Mexico-C 2-0 (21-17, 21-17)
and Costa Rica’s Nathalia Alfaro and Karen Cope beat Avalos and
Laura Molina of El Salvador (21-14, 21-12).
Gordon and Wilkerson claimed their second victory, after a 31
minutes match against Avalos and Molina. The Canadians won by
scores of 21-13, and 21-19.
