Americans Geena Urango and Megan Rice Win Gold

in NORCECA Tour Finals

JUAN DOLIO, Dominican Republic, December 14, 2025.- The American duo of Geena Urango and Megan Rice won the gold medal match of the 2025 NORCECA Tour Finals and eleventh stage of the event, with a hard-fought 2-1 (21-19, 19-21, 15-5) victory against Marie-Alex Bélanger and Lea Monkhouse from Canada on Sunday in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic.

This marked Geena and Megan’s first appearance together on the NORCECA Tour, and they captured the gold medal.

“Coming to the Dominican Republic to play a NORCECA is awesome; getting to play with all the elements: heat, wind, sun, is phenomenal. This was a great competition, and I was happy to do it with Megan,” said Geena.

“This is our first NORCECA together, which was great” stated Megan. She praised her teammate Geena, adding “She was named MVP of the AVP this year, so I feel blessed getting to play with her in these international events, so USA gets to see how great she is again and it’s about time that the international Tour gets to see her as well”.

Puerto Ricans María González and Allanis Navas capped an outstanding 2025 NORCECA Tour season by winning their second bronze medal of the year, bringing their total to nine medals in nine events played. González and Navas defeated Venezuela’s Sara López and Darlin Rodríguez in straight sets, 2–0 (21–14, 21–5), in the bronze medal match.

The NORCECA Tour Finals award double NORCECA and FIVB ranking points, which are crucial for the upcoming season and major international events. For countries seeking qualification for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, to be held here in Juan Dolio, this tournament represented the final opportunity to secure their place.

In the semifinals, Urango and Rice swept Venezuela’s Sara López and Darlin Rodríguez 2–0 (21–8, 21–9), while Bélanger and Monkhouse defeated Puerto Rico’s González and Navas in straight sets, 2–0 (21–14, 21–11).

Mexico’s Susana Torres and Atenas Gutiérrez finished in fifth place after defeating Dominican duo Yari Cleto and Crismil Paniagua 2-0 (21-7, 21-17).

Nicaragua’s López/Lolette claimed seventh place with a 2-0 (21-8, 21-16) victory over Panama’s González/Wilson. El Salvador’s Tovar/Guzmán secured ninth place by overcoming Guatemala’s Alvarado/Aguilar in three sets, 2-1 (21-18, 13-21, 15-12).

Belize’s Nelissa/Sabal placed 11th after defeating St. Kitts & Nevis’ Dyer/Gumbs in three sets, 2-1 (19-21, 21-9, 15-9). Martinique’s Karine/Carole finished 13th with a straight sets win over Grenada’s Keshanice/Collins, 2-0 (21-11, 21-8).
