Antigua Blanks Host BVI in
Dominant Performance
on Day 2 of ECVA Senior Volleyball
Championship
TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands, August 13,
2026.- Day 2 of women’s competition at the 2026 Eastern
Caribbean Senior Volleyball Championship delivered three
straight-set results in Tortola, headlined by a dominant
performance from Antigua against host nation BVI.
Antigua produced the day’s most convincing
performance, defeating host nation BVI 3-0 (25-4, 25-21, 25-19).
Antigua controlled the match from the opening set and maintained
the pressure throughout, while BVI struggled to find its footing
on home soil.
Bermuda outlasted Dominica 3-0 (25-22, 25-22,
31-29) in a nail-biting battle. Despite the straight-set
scoreline, the two teams were locked in tight exchanges
throughout, with Bermuda needing extra points to close out a
marathon third set.
Saint Lucia’s women’s team took down Anguilla in
straight sets, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-11), to round out the day’s
results.
Speaking after the match, Antigua assistant coach
Rosemarie Simon said she told her team they needed to come out
and play their best game. She said that is exactly what the team
did, executing the game plan well.
The championship continues through August 16 at
the Multipurpose Complex in Tortola, BVI, with more matches
scheduled for Day 3.
