Antigua and Barbuda humble the British Virgin Islands

LA CLERY, St Lucia, August 14, 2016:  Antigua and Barbuda needed little time and did not have to exert much energy to totally outclass the British Virgin Islands in match five the inaugural Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-23 women’s Tournament.

Antigua and Barbuda won 3-0) 25-7, 25-9, 25-15) to finish the preliminary round with 2-1 win/loss ratio at the tournament venue- the Vide Boutielle Secondary School’s court.

But for the British Virgin Islands, they were winless from their three matches.

Looking back on his team’s sojourn thus far, Coach of Antigua and Barbuda, Fitzroy Benjamin, said that his players had shown some improvements in the last two matches versus St Vincent and the Grenadines and the British Virgin Islands, respectively.

“We got our serving and passing going in the last two matches...We use those to our advantage because we are not a good blocking team”, Benjamin analysed.

Benjamin anticipates another meeting with St Lucia in the title match, and plans to apply their strengths of passing and serving.

When the two met on Saturday in match of the tournament, St Lucia trumped 3-1.

Match six in the tournament will see St Lucia with two wins from as many matches, taking on St Vincent and the Grenadines, with one win and one loss.
