Participants in Guatemala declared distinguished visitors

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, April 6, 2011. – The participants in the Guatemala’s Gatorade Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second stop of the NORCECA Circuit, were declared distinguished visitors by the Mayor of Guatemala City Mr. Alvaro Arzu with all of them receiving a diploma presented by Vice Mayor Mr. Ricardo Quiñonez during a special ceremony held on Wednesday night.

Guatemala’s highest sport’s authorities were eager to welcome the tournament with encouraging words and nothing but compliments as they join efforts in favor of volleyball’s development in the zone.

Professor Beato Cruz, on behalf of President of NORCECA, Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, declared inaugurated the Gatorade Beach Volleyball Tournament saying “we are convinced that an exceptional competition lies ahead of us due to the hard work of the Organizing Committee and may the best team win.”

The highlight of the evening arrived when Maria Jose Orellana, captain for Guatemala’s female team, was responsible to take oath for the athletes.
