Reyna and Estevez romp into quarterfinals at Boca Chica
BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, April 23, 2011 – Cuba’s Kirenia
Reyna and Imara Estevez advanced to the quarterfinals at the
Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament with one lopsided 21-0,
21-5 victory over Elki Phillip and Pauline Woodroffe of Trinidad
& Tobago on Saturday.
In one surprise outcome, Puerto Ricans Beatriz Rivera and
Tatiana Encarnación defeated Guatemala’s Maria Jose Orellana and
Rut Gomez 21-17, 21-17.
Also Canada and United States booked their two entries in the
round of eight finalists for this third leg of the 2011 NORCECA
Circuit.
Ashley Ivy and Lisa Rutledge of USA-1 beat Diana Romero and
Marcela Avalos of El Salvador by score of 21-12, 21-8 while
fellows Americans Whitney Pavlik and Jenny Krop scored a 21-6,
21-11 win off Samira Luis and Christine Anthony of Curacao.
Jamie Broder and Eve Danserau of Canada-1 prevailed 21-19, 21-15
against Dominican Republic’s Gina and Ginette Del Rosario and
Jaclyne Jallos and Cindy Phillips defeated Jamaica’s Cheril
Daley and Cherine Richards 21-18, 21-14.
Also advancing to Sunday’s quarterfinals were Natalia Alfaro and
Ingrid Morales of Costa Rica who crushed Honduras’ Gina Flores
and Marta Euceda 21-6, 21-8 and Mexico’s Martha Revuelta and
Diana Estrada who won 21-12, 21-11 over Jennifer Bily and
Cristin Alexander of Cayman Islands.
