Semi Finals match ups decided in St Lucia
GROS ISLET, St Lucia, April 28, 2012 - St Lucia plays St
Eustatius and St Vincent and the Grenadines takes on Grenada on
Saturday evening in the semi finals of the 2014 World
Championships Qualification Tournament of the NORCECA Men’s
Group B Men's at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.
The final positions were decided earlier Saturday, when unbeaten
St Lucia saw off Grenada 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-19) and St
Vincent and the Grenadines had an easy passage through St
Eustatius also 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-18).
St Lucia completed the- preliminary round with a perfect record
of three wins and a total of fifteen points. Second place St
Vincent and the Grenadines tallied nine points. Grenada finished
third with six points and St Eustatitus was winless and
pointless from their three matches.
Looking ahead to the semi finals, all four coaches are
optimistic of their teams' chances.
Coach of St Lucia Kendall Charlery said he is looking to another
three nil victory in the semi finals as he has his eyes mainly
set on the finals.
St Eustatius' Coach, Esmond Hook expects his team to bring their
best game in the semi finals, having learnt from their previous
outings.
Coach of St Vincent and the Grenadines Brian Burke believes his
team has the psychological advantage going into the match
against Grenada.
"Having beaten them already we are quite confident, but we have
to get the business done and not to become too complacent",
Burke projected.
Grenada's Coach Raphael Brathwaite anticipates a good battle but
with the Vincentians believes his team has enough in them to
prevail at the end of the final whistle.
The first semi final between St Lucia and St Eustatius commences
at 8:00 pm and from 6:30 pm, St Vincent and the Grenadines
engages Grenada.
The tournament concludes on Sunday evening with the championship
match between the two winning semi finalists, preceded by the
bronze medal match, pitting the two losing semi finalists. |
