Argentina adds a new triumph
TRUJILLO, Peru, July 9, 2019 - In the first match of Tuesday,
Argentina demonstrated its dominance in all the fundamental
plays and won 3-0 over Guatemala (25-12, 25-14, 25-7) at the
Coliseum Great Chimú of Trujillo.
Guatemala fought to take every opportunity to score a point. At
the beginning of the match Argentina did a lot of damage to the
opponent with their attack from the center, and although the
Guatemalans adjusted their serve and block, finally the South
American team established its experience.
Elina Rodríguez (18), Candelaria Herrera (14) and Erika Mercado
(11) showed all their strength in the net. For Guatemala, the
best player was Rut Gómez (8).
Argentina scored its third victory in the Pool A of the Women's
Pan American Cup, with dominance in attack (44-15), blocking
(9-4) and service (9-3).
Elina Rodríguez, Argentina's top scorer: I think there is no
easy team, today we were able to impose our game but Guatemala
was a team that did not stop fighting despite how the match
went.
Rut Gomez, Guatemala's top scorer: We try to take every
opportunity in the game, we try to have a good reception and
attack through the center. I know we are missing a lot, but I
think Guatemala has been improving little by little so far and
that was our learning from each rival.
Guatemala will play its last game of the group stage against
Canada on Wednesday 10th. And at 6:00 p.m., it will be
Argentina's turn to face Cuba. |
