Argentina and USA advance to the Men’s Quarterfinals

SANTIAGO, Chile, October 23, 2023 - Argentinians Nicolás and Tomás Capogrosso and the United States duo of Logan Webber and Hagen Smith have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Men's Beach Volleyball tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.

Nicolás and Tomás Capogrosso defeated Canadians Jake MacNeil/William Russell 2-0 (21-14, 21-12), finishing first-place in Group D and their ticket to the quarterfinals scheduled for Wednesday.

In Group B, Smith/Webber from the United States won 2-1 (21-16, 19-21, 15-12) against Hans Hannibal/Nicolás Llambías from Uruguay, securing the top spot in the group.

In the other match in Group D, Dany León/Marcos Tenorio of Ecuador won 2-0 (21-19, 21-14) against Daniel Dyner/Jhostin Varela of Costa Rica, earning the second-place in the group.

Meanwhile, Ruddy Salvatierra/Luis Calvo of Bolivia won 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) against Andy Leonardo/Luis García of Guatemala in Group B.

In the elimination matches scheduled for Tuesday, León/Tenorio (ECU) will face Salvatierra/Calvo (BOL), who finished third in Group B, and MacNeil/Russell (CAN) will face Hannibal/Llambías (URU), the second-place team from Group B.
