Argentina beats Brazil in historic Bronze medal win at Lima 2019
LIMA, Peru, August 11, 2019.- Argentina beat Brazil 3-0 (26-24,
25-20, 25-21) in historic Bronze Medal win at the eighteenth
Lima 2019 Pan American Games on Sunday at the Multisport Complex
El Callao in Lima, Peru.
This is the first time Argentina wins a medal at Pan American
Games and the second time they beat Brazil in straight sets here
at Lima Games.
Argentina led in attacks 38-32 and scored on 26 opponent errors,
while Brazil held advantage in blocks 9-6 and in aces 6-5,
scoring on 18 errors from Argentina.
Opposite player Lucia Fresco was Argentina´s best scorer with a
match-high of 19 points on 16 kills, 2 blocks and one ace,
followed by outside hitter Elina Rodriguez with 12 points on 9
kills and 2 aces. Lorenne Geraldo was Brazil’s only player to
score double-figures with 15 points from 40 attacks, including
10 kills and 4 aces.

really wanted to take a medal, we knew that we’ve been working
hard and things would pay off son; we are leaving very happy”.
Hernán Ferraro, Head coach of Argentina: “This is a very
important medal because we had a great tournament, we deserved
it. It’s good not leaving with our hands empty. Maybe if we
would have won against Puerto Rico the rode could had been less
hard instead of facing Dominican Republic”. |
