Argentina captures second win
ICA, Peru, September 8, 2014.- Argentina defeated Trinidad and
Tobago 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-16) to capture their second win in
Pool A at the II Women’s U-23 Pan American Cup taking place at
the Jose Oliva Razzeto Coliseum in the City of Ica.
The South Americans showed a solid and structure display in
their second pool match, having no difficulties in beating an
inexperienced Trinidad and Tobago. Argentina improves their
win-loss record 2-0 while Trinidad and Tobago drops to 0-2.
Argentina showed their dominance with a huge 31-15 advantage in
kills, as well in service points by 14-2; in blocking they had a
6-5 margin.
Opposite player Micaela Fabiana registered 12 points, as
Argentina’s top scorer; also with double-figures, middle blocker
Micaela Tassara with 11 points, including 5 aces. Trinidad and
Tobago’s captain Channon Thompson led with 8 points.
Argentina’s captain Priscila Bosio, said "we performed a
little better than yesterday, also did Trinidad and Tobago, we
are a young team and we are building to advance further”.
Captain Channon Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago indicated “ellas
son un equipo fuerte and with more practice than us, we don’t
have much facilities to improve and that makes me feel satisfied
with what we are able to do”. I believe in the second set we
could have done better, but our inexperience kept us short from
doing so”.
Argentinian coach Guillermo Nazabal expressed he’s glad with
their second victory and added “our serves made the difference,
Trinidad and Tobago is a very united team and I want to
congratulated especially captaon Channo Thompson who is one of
the best spikers of the tournament”.
