Argentina claims fifth place at Pan Am Cup
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2016 – Argentina
swept Canada 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) in the match for fifth
place at the XV Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Sunday.
The two teams are qualified to next year’s World Grand Prix with
the group to be determined.
Emilce Sosa collected 10 points, including four blocks, to lead
the South American side. Josefina Fernandez added 10 in the
victory, with two blocks, and Lucia Fresco contributed 9 points.
Shainah Joseph was the best for Canada with 11 points, followed
by Danielle Brisbois and Marie-Alex Belanger with 7 points each
and Jennifer Cross who finished with 6 points.
Argentina edged in blocks 10-9 and also held the advantage in
aces 5-3. Canada scored with 33 attacks against 32 by Argentina.
The winners committed 22 errors to 28 by the losers. |
