LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 13, 2015 – The 35th FIVB World
Congress will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2016
following the approval of the FIVB Board of Administration on
Wednesday.
The capital of Argentina previously hosted the event in 1982 and
2002.
Marrakesh, Morocco and Punta Cana from the Dominican Republic
had been presented also as candidates for the honour of hosting
next year’s event which is expected to take place in September.
Exact dates will be confirmed at a later stage.
Punta Cana withdrew its bid in favor of Buenos Aires since the
last elective congress of FIVB took place in a country from the
NORCECA zone. The tourist region in the eastern Dominican
Republic now will be presented as candidate for the 2018 event.
The 2016 FIVB World Congress will be an elective Congress,
marking four years since Dr. Ary S. Graça F° was elected in
Anaheim, USA.
